So What is Next in the Premier League Circus?

After a break for the FA Cup, it’s back to football games and more Premier League betting this weekend.

Away from the match of the weekend at Anfield, there’s still plenty for sports betting fans to look forward to as the race for a top-four spot and to avoid the drop gathers pace.

WEEK 23 SATURDAY:

Chelsea vs Leicester City

The reigning champions host the 2016 champions with Antonio Conte seemingly hot under the collar.

Whether Jose Mourinho’s comments about ‘clowns’ on the touchline were aimed at Conte is irrelevant, for the Italian reacted and the battle for the runners-up spot could now be heightened by a bitter feud.

On Saturday, Conte welcomes the mild-mannered Claude Puel to Stamford Bridge.

Crystal Palace vs Burnley

Palace’s FA Cup exit at the hands of Brighton is unlikely to be little more than a setback as the Eagles continue to climb the table under Roy Hodgson.

After losing heavily at Man City (as many have), Burnley return to league action in the heady heights of seventh spot.

This may be one of their trickier away days, however.

Huddersfield Town vs West Ham United

A game where three points for either side could be crucial come May.

David Moyes is starting to make his mark as proven in their recent 1-1 draw with Spurs.

David Wagner will be out to avenge a September defeat at the Hammers which was their first defeat of the campaign and West Ham’s first victory.

Newcastle United vs Swansea City

Many expected Swansea to slip up against Premier League hopefuls Wolves in the FA Cup last weekend.

That they didn’t was largely down to Kris Nordfeldt’s impressive goalkeeping display.

If they can avoid defeat at St James’ Park, then survival hopes under new boss Carlos Carvalhal will grow.

They will have midfielder Leroy Fer available after his red card in that cup tie was overturned.

Watford FC vs Southampton

Now here’s a meeting of two out-of-form sides.

It’s one win in five for Watford who at least can afford a blip after the progress made under Marco Silva.

The same can’t be said of Southampton who are only out of the bottom three because of goal difference and have not won in nine.

They did win at Fulham in the FA Cup though, a result which skipper Steven Davis used to urge Saints’ fans to not turn on Coach Mauricio Pellegrino.

West Bromwich Albion vs Brighton & Hove Albion

Whether West Brom’s first win under Alan Pardew – a 2-0 cup success at Exeter – can spur the Baggies into action remains to be seen.

Certainly, the home support will not need telling this is a must-win for the Premier League’s joint-bottom side.

If Brighton do win, they will edge closer to their target of safety.

WEEK 23 SUNDAY:

Tottenham Hotspur vs Everton

A fixture brimming with history and tradition.

Their matches have rarely been dull and this should be no different.

Spurs will certainly not expect Everton to be as accommodating under Sam Allardyce as they were under Ronald Koeman at Goodison Park in September when the Harry Kane-inspired visitors ran out 3-0 winners.

Bournemouth vs Arsenal

Oh, for a repeat of last season’s thriller.

Then the Cherries were on course for a famous victory only to throw away a 3-0 lead in the final 20 minutes.

The way Eddie Howe and Arsene Wenger’s teams play, goals should not be sparse this time either.

WEEK 23 TUESDAY:

Manchester United vs Stoke City

After he received his P45, Mark Hughes-less Stoke couldn’t wish for a tougher start under either a new boss or a caretaker (no manager has been appointed at the time of writing).

However, sometimes moves like this can reinvigorate a side, and it’s only four months since Stoke held United in a thriller at Staffordshire.

For United, Jesse Lingard is a man in a rich vein of form.
