This is why the Bavarians are the team to beat!

There might still be ten football games remaining for each team in the Bundesliga, but after this week’s fixtures, betting odds suggest that Bayern Munich already have one foot on the title.

The Bavarians capped the weekend with a demolition of the Eagles while Leipzig and Dortmund surprised betting websites in a bad way as they both tasted defeat, allowing the defending champions to move 10 points clear at the top.

Bayer Leverkusen 1-1 Werder Bremen

Tenth-placed Bayer failed to give new coach Tayfun Korkut a winning start after allowing Claudio Pizarro to score a late equaliser for Bremen at the BayArena. The hosts appeared to be heading to victory after Kevin Volland put them ahead in seven minutes, but Pizarro—who also became the oldest Bundesliga goal-scorer this season—had other plans as he turned in a Robert Bauer shot in 79 minutes to share the spoils.

Bayern Munich 3-0 Eintracht Frankfurt

Robert Lewandowski hit the century mark of goals for Bayern after bagging a double in their home victory over Frankfurt. The Bavarians had a slow start against the feisty Eagles; however, goals from Lewandowski and Douglas Costa just before the break put them firmly in control. Lewy then sealed the game in the 55th minute for his second and 100th goal for the champs in all competitions.

Hertha BSC 2-1 Borussia Dortmund

The up-and-down season continues for Dortmund as they succumbed to Hertha who are now only three points behind them for third place. Although Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was on target again for BVB – cancelling Salomon Kalou’s 11th-minute opener – it was still not enough as Marvin Plattenhardt stunned them with a free-kick 19 minutes before the death of time.

The Capital club’s victory ended their miserable run against Dortmund, and by the looks of it, they are well-prepared to visit Cologne where they are slight underdogs with 1X2 odds of 2.82.

Darmstadt 98 2-1 Mainz 05

In a day that they wore special kits to honour lifelong fan Jonathan Heimes, Darmstadt finally looked like a team fighting with a purpose. Aytac Sulu and Sidney Sam sparked Darmstadt’s charge with two goals in the opening 12 minutes, and although Mainz gave a late scare, the hosts remained imperious at the back to keep the visitors at bay.

Freiburg 1-1 Hoffenheim

Hoffenheim tallied another draw on their record, thanks to a clean strike from Andrej Kramaric at the hour. Maximilian Philipp scored his eighth goal of the season to give Freiburg the second-half lead, but it didn’t last long when Kramaric levelled matters from the edge of the box.

Julian Nagelsmann’s Hoffenheim, at fourth, are still in the running for Champions League qualification, and they will be determined to secure their European spot when they host Bayer at Rhein-Neckar-Arena where they are tipped with Asian Handicap -0.25 @ 1.99.

RB Leipzig 0-1 Wolfsburg

The Wolves climbed back to 14th and gained some breathing space from the danger zone at the expense of the Bulls. Mario Gomez’ left-footed finish to the net was all that Wolfsburg needed with Leipzig’s Emil Forsberg and Timo Werner unable to find the back of the net.

Things are looking worrying for the Bulls though as they now lost two of their last three home games.

Ingolstadt 2-2 Koln

Another draw is on the books in the German top-flight with struggling Ingolstadt and Koln sharing the honours in a spirited battle. Anthony Modeste continued his goal-scoring run against Ingolstadt with a brace scored in both intervals, but the hosts had a reply to everything the Billy Goats threw at them with Dario Lezcano and Romain Bregerie proving to be constant troublemakers.

Schalke 04 3-0 Augsburg

The game was pretty much over at the half hour after Schalke bombarded Augsburg with three goals, courtesy of Guido Burgstaller and Daniel Caligiuri. Burgstaller was particularly sharp in the match as he netted a brace to put the Royal Blues in charge. Paul Verhaegh could have pulled one back for Augsburg, but Ralf Fahrmann denied him from the penalty spot.

Hamburger SV 2-1 Borussia Monchengladbach

Hamburg tightened the battle against relegation as they seized three crucial points against Dieter Hecking’s side. Bobby Wood won the game for the Red Shorts with an aggressive close-range finish 10 minutes before time, finishing the job after Filip Kostic cancelled Andreas Christensen’s strike with a header of his own. Hamburg stayed at 16th but level on points with Bremen and Wolfsburg.
