As the dust settles on the World Cup qualifiers and Lionel Messi’s team-mates gratefully heave a sigh of relief, it’s time to get back to domestic matters.

But they also need to take care of business at the Etihad when Stoke arrives. Gabriel Jesus scored a brace for Brazil and will be ready to hunt down the 13th placed Potters.
Tottenham Hotspur vs Bournemouth
For all the talk of Spurs’ struggles at Wembley, Mauricio Pochettino has steered his team to an early season third position. After his customary August drought, Harry Kane has scored six in the league and excelled for England. How long before the Cherries start to worry, they’re 19th with four points and only four goals?
Crystal Palace vs Chelsea
Antonio Conte, too, will have an eye on Anfield at lunchtime as his champions could climb to within three points of the Red Devils if results go their way. This is Roy Hodgson’s fourth game in charge of the pointless Eagles. Will he get a fifth from Palace’s trigger happy owners or would that be unfair on Frank de Boer?
Burnley vs West Ham United
Burnley hope to keep a five-match unbeaten run going in this battle of the Clarets and are fancied to do so against the Hammers who have recovered from an appalling start but do have a leaky defence. West Ham enjoy playing Sean Dyche’s team though, with five consecutive wins in recent meetings.
Swansea City vs Huddersfield Town
The Terriers made a great start with two victories but are now without a win in five. These fixtures are what the Premier League is all about for newcomers, and Huddersfield has show it can cope, fighting for a draw at Burnley. But it looks like a must-win game for Swansea, already in the bottom three.
WEEK 8 SUNDAY:
Watford FC vs Arsenal
The teatime kick-off gives the Gunners a chance to continue their recent good run of form which has taken them up to fifth. Four consecutive wins give them the momentum but Watford have made a good start and recovered well from a 0-6 hammering by Manchester City a few weeks ago.
Brighton & Hove Albion vs Everton
The Seagulls have seven points from the first seven games and will be delighted with that whereas the Toffees, also with seven, consider it to be a mild disaster. So there’s more pressure on Ronald Koeman to get his team going on the South Coast. Easier said than done though, Brighton has won the last three at home.
Southampton vs Newcastle United
The Saints will expect to leapfrog the Magpies in this mid-table clash after a mixed start, with recent back-to-back defeats to Manchester United and Stoke. Newcastle have taken ten points from the last five and Rafa Benitez will be happy to add another one here.
WEEK 8 TUESDAY:
Leicester City vs West Bromwich Albion
Leicester sit just outside the drop zone on goal difference after a run of five without a win. The Baggies have failed to win in five also, but started with two wins and so sit relatively comfortably in the middle. These are early days but a tense, last Week 8 fixture could be on the cards as Tony Pulis’ tries to snare the Foxes.
