Tottenham Hotspur vs Chelsea
Spurs aim to heap more pressure on the champions when Chelsea turn up at Wembley on Sunday hoping to erase a disastrous opening day memory.
The big football games are coming thick and fast for Premier League betting fans and this is the pick of the weekend. Chelsea, particularly, need a result to lift spirits at the Bridge after a difficult summer. And few betting tips suggested Burnley would wipe the Blues away in a devastating 45 minutes last week, but the effects will be longer lasting.
As Chelsea capitulated, Gary Cahill and Cesc Fabregas both saw red and will sit this one out alongside the injured Eden Hazard, and of course, rebel Diego Costa is nowhere to be seen. How Antonio Conte would love to have those two, so pivotal to his 2017 success, on the pitch.
But they aren’t, and he must hope that Spurs get the Wembley jitters after they comfortably collected their first three points in Newcastle on Sunday. Mauricio Pochettino’s men have moved from one of the tightest grounds at White Hart Lane to the Wembley Stadium and it remains to be seen just how homely it will be.
Another subplot in all this is Chelsea’s pursuit of Spurs’ highly-rated fullback Danny Rose, and Conte is rumoured to be preparing a £50m bid for the unsettled England star. Following the sale of Kyle Walker to Manchester City, Pochettino won’t be happy to sell another big player to a rival; but money talks.
Conte will do well to remember though…you can’t buy happiness.
